In this home we updated two bathrooms to enhance the current function, and also with a view toward possible future needs. In the master bedroom there were doors with conflicting swings that were corrected, and we changed the door hinging and swing in the master bathroom to make the room more comfortable and safer to use. By optimizing the size of the new shower we were able to add a linen closet to provide much improved storage. In addition to a sleek folding shower seat and stylish grab bars, we kept in mind contrasting visual cues to make transitions into and out of the shower safer.
- The new shower is bright and open. When folded the teak shower seat is unobtrusive.
- The recessed niche and grab bar with shelf provide lots of space for bathing products.
- The teak shower seat has a sleek look.
- We were able to fit a new linen closet in while still maintaining a spacious shower.
- We reinforced the walls wherever we installed grab bars.
- The new vanity is higher than the previous one.
- The lighted magnifying mirror provides focused lighting for shaving and applying makeup.
- We kept the existing tile floor and updated the cabinet, counter, faucet, mirror, light, and wall paint. We used a taller vanity cabinet than had been there previously.
- This bathroom was updated with new cabinet, counter, faucet, mirror, light, and paint. We also added a new vent fan and additional ceiling lights. We also reinforced the wall where we added a grab bar toilet paper holder.
- BEFORE – The master bathroom had a short vanity cabinet before the renovation. Also, the entry door swung into the bathroom before we switched it.
- BEFORE – The previous fiberglass shower insert was large, but it didn’t use the space as well as it could have. With the new shower footprint we were able to have a very comfortably-sized shower and add a linen closet in formerly unused space behind the door. Now the door is hinged on the other side and it swings out, which is safer in case anyone ever needs assistance.
- BEFORE – The previous shower’s unused seats took up too much of the footprint. In the new shower the seat can be folded away when not needed.
- BEFORE – The hall bathroom had a short vanity cabinet before the updates. The new cabinet kept the same width but was taller. We further updated the space with a new quartz counter, faucet, framed mirror, light, wall paint, grab bar, vent fan, and recessed lights
